Questions for Jenifer Kirtland, Managing Director
What is your role at EVC Group?
I oversee investor relations programs for several of our technology, banking, and medical device clients, managing shareholder communications, marketing clients to analysts and investors, and counseling senior management.
What do you do outside of work?
I do a lot of volunteer work with my family, but I’m also a board member at Youth Homes, an organization that serves foster kids in Contra Costa, California, where I live. Having worked closely with corporate boards for many years, it is very rewarding to apply what I’ve learned to support the mission of this fabulous organization.
You have worked with many corporate boards?
EVC Group counsels the corporate boards of our client companies all the time, and often we’ll advise senior management on board issues. We’ve even recruited board members for a number of our clients. And prior to joining EVC Group I was VP for investor relations at Maxtor Corp, a $4 billion hard drive company, where I had extensive contact with its board of directors.
So you’ve been a client, as well as on the agency side?
I have. Prior to Maxtor I was with Morgan-Walke Associates and Wilson McHenry Company. And I’ve also been internal IR staff at Hexcel Corporation, Crestar Financial Corporation, BankAmerica and Mellon Financial Corporation.
That’s a lot of banking experience. Does EVC Group specialize in any particular industry, like financial services?
We are all generalists with a broad-base of industry experience, and EVC Group is a diversified firm. While we have several medical technology companies as clients and we consider ourselves experts in med tech, we have clients in the pharmaceutical, banking, consumer and enterprise technology, and mining industries, and we’ve worked in clean energy, retail, healthcare, telecom, financial services, business services, internet services, you name it. Our IR Magazine Award was for our work with a consumer products company, in the snack nut industry, and our PRSA award was for work with a medical imaging technology company.
