Best IR for an IPO: Diamond
Foods
EVC Group’s professionals have provided investor relations counsel to more than 75 companies during their initial public offering. Based on these experiences, the firm developed “IPO Prep,” a proprietary program designed to prepare a company to communicate with its shareholders after its transition to public ownership. In 2006, the firm’s work on behalf of Diamond Foods [NASDAQ: DMND] was voted “Best IR for an IPO” by the readers of IR Magazine.
This IPO was novel in that it required Diamond to convert from an agricultural cooperative. For this reason it attracted considerable media attention during its "quiet period," which at the time limited management’s freedom to discuss the offering in the press. EVC Group worked closely with management and its bankers and lawyers to respond to the media with management’s key messages. As a result, the company received fair and balanced coverage in Sacramento Bee, Stockton Record, Bloomberg News, Los Angeles Times, AgAlert, and elsewhere.
Diamond’s debut on NASDAQ was attended by a feature story in the San Francisco Chronicle and appearances for CEO Michael Mendes on CNBC and the Nightly Business Report on PBS.
